Beloved Ellen DeGeneres fan, Tayt Andersen, who touched millions with his strength and positivity, has passed away at the age of 19 after a brave battle with cancer.

Born with a rare congenital heart condition, Tayt endured 12 surgeries before the age of 9. At 10 years old, he received a heart transplant that gave him a new lease on life. Unfortunately, years later, he was diagnosed with post-transplant lymphoma, and in 2024, bladder cancer. By mid-2025, the cancer had spread to his pelvis, spine, abdomen, chest, and neck.
Despite his health struggles, Tayt continued to inspire people with his courage, smile, and determination. His story became a symbol of strength and resilience, making him a fan favorite not just for Ellen DeGeneres, but for millions around the world.
Ellen DeGeneres’ Heartfelt Tribute
After news of Tayt’s passing on September 26, 2025, Ellen DeGeneres shared an emotional video tribute.
“We had a very special guest on the show several times, and his name is Tayt,” Ellen said. “He thought I was his girlfriend, so I told him he was my boyfriend—which surprised my wife. But he was such a special human being who brought joy, laughter, and light into every room he entered. I will miss him deeply.”
The tribute ended with a touching montage of their moments together on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
A Mother’s Gratitude
Tayt’s mother, Chrissy Becker, also expressed her gratitude to Ellen.
“We love you so much,” she wrote on social media. “Thank you for being his girlfriend—you gave him so much strength ❤️.”
The family confirmed Tayt’s passing in an Instagram post, writing:
“Our hearts are absolutely shattered. Our sweet warrior Tayt passed away peacefully surrounded by family. While our souls are broken with grief, we are thankful that he is finally free from pain.”
